Everything was so beautiful, from the landscapes to the food to the staff, to the atmosphere, everything gave me a sense of calm and freedom. I absolutely fell in love with the grounds, especially the river and trails. The rooms were gorgeous as well.

Sevenoaks is a Friendly, Full-Service Retreat Center in Central Virginia
Available for Weekday and Weekend Group Rentals

Sevenoaks Retreat Center is located on 120 acres of secluded forest land in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The Center offers private meeting spaces for large and small groups, serving delicious, healthy meals and providing comfortable overnight lodging.

  • Meeting spaces for 15-80 people
  • Overnight accommodations for 50 people
  • Dining hall serves 80 people

Sevenoaks has been owned and operated by Mid-Atlantic Pathwork, a nonprofit organization, since 1977. Today, Sevenoaks is rented for mindfulness, meditation and yoga retreats, dance and writing workshops, and holistic training groups. In addition, Sevenoaks offers Pathwork programs and workshops.

One of the attractions of Sevenoaks is the land itself. The 120-acre property is expansive, largely wooded, bordered by the pretty Rapidan River, and surrounded by views of the Blue Ridge mountains. Shamans who have regularly visited Sevenoaks describe the land as “spiritually seasoned”. Simply put, it feels good to be at Sevenoaks.

The featured building is Lighthouse, which offers a wonderful, 52-foot-diameter circular meeting space for groups.

Located in Central Virginia, Sevenoaks feels private and secluded without being too remote. It is easily accessible by car from large cities and airports, reachable in less than two-hours from Washington DC, 75 minutes from Richmond, or 30 minutes from Charlottesville.

Such a confluence cannot easily be created, and provides a richly desirable place for personal development retreats and workshops.

Mid-Atlantic Pathwork Announces New Center Director for Sevenoaks

KlingerFollowing its July decision to commit to an active plan of sustainable growth for the Sevenoaks Retreat Center, the Mid-Atlantic Pathwork Board of Trustees announced today that it has hired Paul N. Klinger as Center Director.

Mid-Atlantic Pathwork President Tom Hubbard stated, “We feel very fortunate to have someone with Paul’s outstanding background and track record join the team of managers and staff at Sevenoaks.  Paul is a superb sales and operational executive with the right personal qualities for our spiritual mission and culture.  We look forward to prosperity and growth at Sevenoaks Retreat Center under Paul’s leadership.”

Klinger will take on leadership of the Retreat Center to help meet its primary goals:  to expand revenue and occupancy rates to 50% over the next 3 to 5 years and increase sales and marketing locally, regionally and nationally.  As part of this goal, he will develop strategies to ensure that the Center is beautifully well-maintained and able to meet increased occupancy for the future.

Reflecting on the community he will join, Klinger said:  “The Board, staff and community are really engaged and interested in moving forward.  It will be a pleasure for me to work with a Board that is so clear in its objectives and a staff so dedicated to supporting personal growth and spiritual development.  I can’t wait to roll up my sleeves and get started.” (read more)
